Everyone want’s to be a little more handy nowadays and many companies have made things easier for DIY projects. Cooking, furniture, construction and technology have all gotten more straight forward for the average DIYer to undertake. When it comes to DIY booster kits, they come with all the essentials for a system, but what if you want more? Another antenna here, a different type of antenna there. You might need more cable too! Thats where we come in. We know the limitations with these kits so we keep even the kitchen sink in the truck. So what do we have in our bag of tricks? Lets take a deep dive!
A “behind the scenes” look at our load-out
There are many different types of cell phone booster kits on the market. These kits include the main equipment as well as accessories and peripherals needed to setup the booster system. The items found in most of these kits will get you started but CellTeks supplies what is really needed to perform a proper install that supplies signal corner to corner. Our team is always ready to complete the install on the same day as the site survey.
In the average home, multiple broadcast antennas will be required to cover an area larger than one room. The typical cell booster system only includes one broadcast antenna. An outside antenna (or donor antenna) is also needed for many booster systems. While most kits include a donor, CellTeks provides the appropriate mounting hardware that work for your roof type and can get additional height if needed. Also not found in box, is additional cable, splitters, and connectors that will be necessary to cover a space larger than about a 30 foot radius.
Most cell booster systems include:
- The amplifier
- 1 LPDA donor antenna
- 1 panel broadcast antenna
- 2x 50’ cables to connect the antennas to the amplifier
A CellTeks installation includes:
- An amplifier enclosure
- A J-pipe mount for the donor antenna with conduit extension for height as needed
- Harnesses and lift certifications for when towers or very high buildings are involved
- -10db, -6db, two-way, three-way, or even four-way taps, and splitters as needed to add antennas
- Multiple broadcast antennas in both directional or radial design to provide the best coverage
- Broadcast antenna mounting brackets that can been hidden out of sight
- As many cable runs as required, with terminations made on site for custom cable lengths
- Cable management hardware
- RF signal detection equipment, to determine the best donor antenna direction
Can I do it myself?
The skill level to functionally install a booster system is well within the range of the DIY community and we don’t discourage getting into this amazing technology by any means. In many cases the installation can be done in a few hours. The issue isn’t the install but with the troubleshooting if things go a little awry. Cable gets kinked, antenna gets cracked, an adapter is defective… although unlikely scenarios, they can happen.
The materials that CellTeks could deploy would take some time and effort to source and acquire which saves a headache even for us. You could “do it yourself” but CellTeks can complete the job on the same day in nearly every case. No additional trips to the hardware store, no waiting for a replacement part from the manufacturer and no finding the right part from amazon. Our trucks stay stocked with the tools and supplies to get you up and running quickly and optimally. If you need help with your installation, we’re just call, press, or click away and well get you online in no time. And if you don’t want to deal with the hassle and want a system working perfectly
